A Couple of Weeks in This Life

While I wouldn’t necessarily call it a hiatus, I haven’t placed any new entries here for what seems like quite some time. I’ve focused quite a bit of thought and energy toward in other creative efforts, which included:

I also learned that the March edition of Natural Awakenings magazine in Arizona will feature a short photo essay that I wrote on the Valley of Fire State Park, which is located about 50 miles north of Las Vegas, as part of a series they are starting called, “Go & Tell”.

I’ve got some wonderful pictures from this amazing place, where we arrived in time to catch the sunrise. Here are a few more.

The area gets its name in part from the sandstone formations made from grains that are almost pure silica. The reddish hue comes from iron deposits. However, the colors are intensified during those times of the day when the sun is lower on the horizon, as at sunrise, and sunset.

I don’t know how many images the article will publish, but too many will never be enough. This place is definitely worth a personal visit… it is certainly a peaceful haven from often chaotic Las Vegas.

You can see and purchase prints of any of my Valley of Fire images by visitng my Great Places gallery. I will be adding to the galleries in the near future. Images of Azar Lawrence are available here.

There’s always more to tell and show… I’ll get back to it soon. However, I do want to thank those who have been responding to the essays and thoughts that are already here. New people are discovering this place daily.
